Bookended by two of the most fantastic sequences in recent memory (the opener exquisitely reminiscent of the prologue to Don DeLillo‘s novel Players), Lars Von Trier‘s apocalyptic Melancholia gives us plenty to think about how we would spend our last days – accepting of our fate or holding out in denial – knowing the world was going to end.
