prince avalanche - poster

I can’t tell you how good it is to see director David Gordon Green (George Washington, All the Real Girls) get back to his roots in making films about people in desperate situations and away from the shitty comedies (Your Highness, The Pineapple Express) that have been occupying his time in recent years and make Prince Avalanche (which is a remake of Icelandic film Either Way) capturing the lives of two men as they are stuck in a mostly uninhabited area with only themselves for company and work to do; Emile Hirsch shines in his role and it’s nice to see Paul Rudd shed his shitty, unfunny one-trick pony Apatowian persona and get down to actually acting which makes this a fun and interesting film that is more accessible than Green‘s earlier works and far more interesting than anything he’s done since Snow Angels.
